Install on WordPress

Add the Voicello voice widget to a WordPress site with a code snippets plugin or your theme footer file.

On WordPress the install code goes into your site's footer, either through a plugin that adds code to every page or through your theme. Do the shared setup in Install the widget first: you need a published agent, your domain under Verified domains, and the install code copied from the Deploy tab.

Option 1: a code snippets plugin

This is the safer way, because the code survives theme updates.

  1. Install a header and footer code plugin

    In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins, then Add New, and install a plugin that adds code to the footer of every page. WPCode is a common one. Activate it.

  2. Paste the install code into the footer box

    Open the plugin's header and footer screen. Paste the install code you copied from the Deploy tab into the Footer box and save.

  3. Clear your cache

    If your site uses a caching plugin or a CDN, clear its cache so visitors get the new footer.

Option 2: your theme

Use this if you would rather not add a plugin. Put the code in a child theme, because an update to the parent theme replaces its files.

Add this to your child theme's functions.php, then paste the install code where the comment is:

PHP
add_action( 'wp_footer', function () {
    ?>
    <!-- Paste the install code from the Deploy tab on this line -->
    <?php
} );

WordPress prints whatever is hooked to wp_footer just before the closing </body> tag of every page.

Check that it shows

Open your site in a private browser window, so you see it as a visitor does and not as a signed in admin. The launcher button appears in the corner.

If it does not, work through If the widget does not show. On WordPress the two usual causes are a page cache that still serves the old footer, and a security plugin that sets a Content Security Policy.
